FY25 Network Investment Grant Program: Fueling Access, Building Capacity Grant Program
Grant Opportunity Overview
The Community FoodBank of New Jersey (CFBNJ) is excited to announce the FY25 Network Investment Grant program, made possible through funding from the New Jersey Department of Agriculture/Office of the Food Security Advocate. This grant cycle will distribute approximately $4 million to network partners across New Jersey, with a focus on building infrastructure that strengthens the capacity of food pantries to serve their communities. Specifically, this year’s grant priorities emphasize cold storage capacity and access to transportation, enabling partners to better glean, store, and distribute fresh, nutritious foods. By addressing these critical needs, CFBNJ aims to increase access to healthier food options and improve long-term food security for neighbors across the state.
This is a time-sensitive grant opportunity with a short spending period. Funds awarded must be used for purchases made between January 1 – June 15, 2025. Additionally, your agency may submit for reimbursement for eligible purchases made after July 1, 2024, provided they align with the grant’s funding criteria.
This grant cycle introduces a data-driven, targeted selection process to ensure that resources are allocated to areas with the highest need and the greatest potential for impact. Using analyses of food insecurity rates, along with insights gathered from partner impact and capacity surveys, CFBNJ will prioritize investments in communities with significant gaps in infrastructure and services. This approach also reflects our commitment to equity, ensuring that underserved communities receive the support needed to build sustainable solutions and strengthen food access for all.
CFBNJ is particularly focused on enhancing the ability of network partners to store and transport fresh food, such as produce, dairy, and protein, as part of its ongoing nutrition policy. With investments in cold storage and transportation, pantries will be better equipped to accept and distribute these fresh, perishable items, meeting the growing demand for nutritious food options. Additionally, transportation access will support critical initiatives such as gleaning, which helps rescue fresh produce from farms and ensures it reaches those in need.
By centering equity, health, and dignity in our grantmaking, CFBNJ and its partners aim to empower food pantries to serve their neighbors in ways that best meet the unique needs of their communities. Together, we are building a more equitable, sustainable, and impactful food distribution network that addresses both immediate hunger and long-term food security challenges across New Jersey.
